Q&A with Love Law Live Host, Crislove A. Igeleke, Esq.

What will the topics podcast cover?

Podcasts will focus on the most common issues that clients are facing and areas that are of key importance for any person planning to go into business, already in business and those directing or starting nonprofits. I will also discuss information about getting government contracts, access to capital, and other strategies to help organizations be successful in their business ventures. We always welcome listener feedback to ensure we are providing content interests and benefits in.

What is your typical process for working with a new clients?

I start off by meeting with the client(s) to ensure we are on the same page about the assistance needed. I like to give my clients the opportunity to explain and ask any questions they have and also spend some time getting to know them a little better. I always work with my clients to provide a fee breakdown that works for their budget. If there is any legal matter I cannot personally assist with, I can get clients connected with other attorneys in the firm I work in or other firms across the US through our national network of attorneys. I offer free legal consultations so that clients have an understanding of what services they actually would need to avoid wasting their time or making them incur unnecessary costs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I obtained my college degree followed by my Juris Doctorate Degree to practice law. I have completed several hours of legal assistance in the local community and done both externships and internships working in federal court, legal in-house counsel departments for the Nevada System of Higher Education and Diamond Resorts International, worked in family law and educational legal clinics, clerked in the Office of the United States Senate, and practiced law in both public and private law firms. Through these experiences, I have been able to tailor my services to best suit the individual I am working with, guiding them through the process while ensuring their goals are met.

I have also developed skills in teaching, coaching and relationship building through my time working in student life as a tutor,  academic advisor, mentor and school teacher. I instructed Seminars in the City of Law Vegas,  the City of Henderson Business Resource Departments and Clark County Law Library. I teach seminars on Record Sealing, Business Entities, Small Business Contracts and Employment, Trademark and Branding as well as Wills and Estate Planning. From one on one coaching to large audiences, I have been able to connect with people on various levels and navigate the issues while attentively listening to their feedback and structuring my presentations and approach to accommodate that.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

From the time I was young, it was always my passion to help people in critical stages of life. If I wasn't so bothered by blood, I would have loved to be a doctor. I consider myself a doctor in the legal realm of things. Similar to a primary doctor, I provide clients with "well checks" to ensure that they and their business are operating in the best health. Conversely, like the urgent care doctor, some clients come in to me with situations that are already problematic, and I find ways to eliminate and deter ills that will jeopardize them, finding ways to eliminate and deter all the ills and help to get them back on track for the better.

As a Las Vegas Native, I understand that while there are several opportunities for growth in this city and other large metropolitan areas, there are also many local, state and federal obligations that most small businesses and nonprofits are not aware of. I enjoy working with people to shield them from legal harm and help them when they do run into disputes. While I have gained a variety of legal experience, I focus my practice areas on what I most enjoy and what my previous clients have expressed appreciation in me handling.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I've worked with various clients, from those with low or no income receiving pro bono representation, to national corporations. No matter the case or the client, each is handled with the exact same level of care and attention. People do not want an attorney who will just get the job done, they want someone who will handle their matter as if it were their own.

I am always fond of assisting nonprofits and entrepreneurs start their business, get licenses and contracts in place to start off on the right foot. This helps them be able to have a profitable and successful future without having to run into legal issues down the road for things they didn't know they needed. They are optimistic and when the clients are passionate about what they do, it makes working with them and getting things done that much easier.

What questions should customers think through before seeking legal help?

Always hire an attorney to avoid legal risks that likely will arise if you do it on your own or simply hire a paralegal. Choose someone who is responsive and will not leave your case idle. Your case should be as important to them as it is to you. It's important to ask yourself how much you value your business, your family or whatever the topic for which you are seeking legal help. Then consider, if you are just looking to get the job done, or whether you want to the job done right.
